Football vs Soccer Cultural Divide in Sports

Image
Football began in the Middle Ages, and in 1863 it was made official in schools in England to keep pupils in line. Those same kids, who were now factory owners, taught other workers how to do it so they could keep them in line. The author, MickaĆ«l Correia, adds that when the sport became famous all across the world, it became a part of working-class culture and even helped free minorities. Along with writer Meeker Guerrier, Mickael Correia tells Stphn Bureau that politicians use football to boost their image, tying into the "Football vs. Soccer Cultural Divide in Sports." The bosses had their own ideas: "We were taught football to learn the inherent value of capitalism: the division of labour, each person in their place, the value of obedience, the spirit of competition, and taking the initiative." Micka els Correia informs us that we will educate the workers this so that they don't spend their money at a pub or perhaps join a union when they leave the factory. ...

The Financial Powerhouses Behind Football Clubs

Image
Real Madrid is growing used to being in first position. Real Madrid (La Liga) is the most valuable football club in the world. It has been rated first in the Forbes ranking for the last four years and tenth in the last twelve editions. The club is worth $6.75 billion, which is 2% more than it was in 2024, the year before. This year, the "Merengues" may now say they have a new record. In the 2023–2024 season, the Casa Blanca produced over 1 billion dollars for the first time, joining the Dallas Cowboys (NFL) as the only sports teams to do so—proof of the financial powerhouses behind football clubs. Real Madrid is most like Manchester City (Premier League), which made $901 million in 2023–2024. The Manchester United club is still the closest to Real Madrid's worth of $6.6 billion. They are valued more than Barcelona, the other big Spanish team, which is worth $5.65 billion. These 30 football teams are valued a total of 72 billion dollars, which is an average of 2.4 bi...

The Evolution of Quarterbacks in the NFL

Image
The quarterback position is one of the few that hasn't changed much throughout time. But things have changed a lot over the years. When individuals talk about how they feel about quarterbacks from the 1970s and 2020s. The stat sheets have a lot of things that make you go "wow." The amount of yards is used to rank the top ten passers in 1971 and 2021. Nine of the ten blue quarterbacks threw for over 4,000 yards in 2021. Carson Wentz was 10th that year, but in 1971, his numbers would’ve led the league—showing The Evolution of Quarterbacks in the NFL. In 1971, the NFL had only been around for two years. The American Football League and the National Football League came together to become one league. In football, running was also the most important part of the game. There were no guidelines concerning how to keep quarterbacks safe while they were throwing the ball or receivers safe while they were catching it. These are the reasons why there aren't as many quarterba...

College Football Feeding the NFL Machine

Image
The Collage Footballl Playoff (CFP) leaders are still talking about the specifics of a prospective expansion to 16 teams. They are debating things like when to rank the teams, which ones will get a pass, if there will be games on campus, and which games will be eligible. The NFL is a bigger threat to college football's growth than anything else, showing constant contempt and viewing it simply as "College Football Feeding the NFL Machine." It's not the way things are set up or organised that is the problem. There is a race. And it's the name of the NFL games' TV schedule, which is in direct competition with the College Football Playoff. What went wrong? The ratings for a sport are dropping, and it can't grow. Three first-round playoff games will be played on the same Saturday as the Eagles-Commanders and Packers-Bears matchups in 2025. No matter how exciting the College Football games are that day, the NFL division games in December will be more excit...

The Global Popularity of Football Explained

Image
Football and the awful things it does. This is an unusual subject for research. Very strange. Since sociology, like any other science, is only interesting if it can make things that are not plain to the mind clear, this book must have at least one of the two reasons that could make it interesting. There have been many serious studies on football's popularity as a show, but it remains a strange social phenomenon. The global popularity of football is clear, yet we still don’t fully understand why its audience changes so much over time. Why should it get more here and less elsewhere at the same time? What makes it cause distinct types of partisan movements that don't necessarily have the same goals? Why does it occasionally cause chaos? But I didn't get any teasing or anyone trying to stop me from writing this or the questions that came before it.
